Built off knowledge from Music Theory II, this course further broadens your written analytical understanding of music you perform and listen to. You build greater understanding of four-voice counterpoint and practice advanced formal analysis, which includes more chromatic tonal harmonies and modulations. This course in musicianship builds off Sight Singing and Ear Training II. In this level you learn to identify and reproduce more chromatic intervals and harmonies within a broader range of tonalities. You learn basic modulation skills, more complex rhythms, and melodies with larger and more frequent skips and leaps. Non-music majors/minors may take this course with instructor approval only.
