This course is designed to be an introduction to popular music. The format of the course is to survey varied examples of popular music while investigating the circumstances surrounding the performers and their composers. The course is intended to develop those aural skills that can provide a basis for critical and intelligent listening. (3-0)

These classes are all designed to provide the student with the basis elements and techniques of performance in each of the media. Individual instruction scheduled, at the discretion of the instructor, either privately or in a small class. The course is open to all students. Students may register for two credit hours only with approval of the music faculty. Two credit hours are required for a Performance Concentration.
